May 2008 - “The Chemistry of God”

We’ve all heard and seen dating sites such as “Match.com” and “E-Harmony,” etc., matching you with someone based on various levels and dimensions of your personality.  By using this as an example, I am not endorsing any of these sites, nor am I against them.

This message is not about finding that special someone; it’s about connecting so deeply with God and having a relationship with Him that surpasses all human experience! 

I have studied married couples for nearly thirteen years now.  The first marriage I actually studied was between my former pastor and his wife.  There were things that I saw in their marriage that you knew was a supernatural experience, and then there were also those differences between them that made you realize the human experience of coming together and becoming one flesh.  I witnessed a level of respect and honor weaved throughout their relationship that required a supernatural authenticity (being who they really are) to experience the best God had for them.  

Authenticity was an extremely difficult process for me because of a severe root of rejection in my life. I had always been rejected.  Years ago I developed a really close friendship with a man; however I operated in our relationship having a deep seated fear of being rejected by him if he really knew who I was.  One night, God spoke to me and said “Tammy, if you aren’t authentic in your relationships, then you rob yourself of the best I have for you.”   As I have developed my relationship with God and become authentic with Him, I have had the capacity to be authentic in all my relationships, which in turn has attracted incredibly close friendships with men and women alike because of the ability to be me! 

I was looking up the word “chemistry” because I was just meditating on the miracle of relational connections.  As I perused the various definitions I found a few that just brought incredible clarity to my mind.

Chemistry:  “Miraculous power of transmuting something common into something precious.”

When we invite Christ into our lives and into the deepest places of our heart, becoming transparent and vulnerable, the miraculous power of His Love (His chemistry) changes the common areas of our life, into something precious!  Behold He makes all things new!  This takes time!  I’ve said it a thousand times, one just doesn’t invite Christ into their lives and the human experience is perfected.  Your spirit man is perfected in the blink of an eye, but we still live in this human body and therefore a process begins to take place of getting what’s now birthed on the inside, operating on the outside.  We as Christians on this journey need to tap into the incomparable chemistry that we should have in our relationship with God.  Listen, God knows you!  In Psalm 139:1-4 AMP the Word says “O Lord, you have searched me (thoroughly) and have known me.  You know my downsitting and my uprising; You understand my thought afar off.  You sift and search out my path and my lying down, and You are acquainted with all my ways.  For there is not a word in my tongue (still unuttered), but behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.”  There is a wealth of revelation in these few verses.  He has searched and known us!  In Genesis 4:1 it says that Adam knew his wife Eve and they bore a son.  God has searched us and known us!  This is a statement of fertility!  When God and I connect, something is conceived!  We bear the fruit of our intimacy with God.  He understands me!  He wants to be with me!  He knows even the unuttered words of my tongue.  I hear so many women complain about how their husbands don’t listen to them or that they don’t have a clue of who they are or what they want out of their lives, etc.  Here God sits knowing even the unuttered words of my tongue!  NOW THAT’S A MAN! 

God connects with us on all dimensions (physically, emotionally and spiritually.)  So few have really allowed Him into the deepest places of their hearts and been so transparent and vulnerable to Him.  I seriously don’t believe that until one connects with God on this multifaceted level can they really connect with another human the way God designed it to be. 

Another definition of Chemistry is:  To make use of, declare, or pronounce, as suitable, fitting, or relative.

God declares that over our hearts!  He is our suitable help mate!!!  He connects with us on every level and we as human beings have the choice to connect back!  This is intimacy on a whole other level!!!   I’m telling you there is a supernatural connection of chemistry coming to the body of Christ!  Men, women and children are going to connect with God as never before!  I’ve sensed it for over a year and it’s beginning to happen.
